Below are some instructions on how to save your file into a .PLT file if you are using AutoCAD 2000 and up.
Preparing Plot Files (.plt) for digital print systems. Note: These instructions assume a general working knowledge of windows based computers and AutoCAD 2000 or newer.
For AutoCAD 2000 thru AutoCAD 2004
Set up the plot configuration, as you would for a typical large scale plot. (Including paper size, pen assignments, etc. Pen settings preferable black and white, not color.)
From PLOT DEVICE tab, check PLOT TO FILE (or Alt + F).
Browse for the desired location you would like the plot file (.plt) saved.
Proceed to plot as you normally would.
You can retrieve your plot file from the location you selected in step 3 to then e-mail, upload to our website (Send Us Files), or make a CD-ROM to bring it into the store.
For AutoCAD 2005 and Newer
Set up the plot configuration, as you would for a typical large scale plot. (Including paper size, pen assignments, etc. Pen settings preferable black and white, not color.)
From PLOT TO FILE (or Alt + F) from the Printer / Plotter area of the plot dialog box.
Proceed to plot as you normally would.
Upon plotting, a dialog box will appear prompting you to choose a location to save the plot file (.plt).
You can retrieve your plot file from the location you selected in step 4 to then e-mail, upload to our website (Send Us Files), or make a CD-ROM to bring it into the store.
